7th Annual PAWker Run
Saturday, September 11th, 2010 (6:00 pm)
The 7th Annual PAWker Run to benefit the Frances R. Willis SPCA of Dorchester County will be held on Saturday, September 11 at the Dorchester Shrine Club at 2150 Beech Hill Road.

Registration is $20 per person with extra hands at $5. Registration includes free t-shirt, goody bag and BBQ Plate lunch with dessert. The 100-mile Run through the Lowcountry will have 10 stops with 5 mandatory, including the Frances R. Willis SPCA.

When bikers return, they will have a BBQ Plate lunch with dessert, a 50/50 drawing and drawings for door prizes. Cash prizes will be awarded for 1st, 2nd, 3rd and worst hands.

THE CHARLESTON REGIONAL ALLIANCE FOR THE ARTS Presents “ OPEN ”

The Charleston Regional Alliance for the Arts is dedicated to the shared realization of a dynamic and thriving arts community by serving arts organizations in the region of Charleston, SC with resources and best business practices. Acting as a catalyst and facilitator for Charleston, Berkeley and Dorchester counties, the Alliance envisions an engaged community that is fully expressive, creative and inspired by the arts.

“OPEN” is a multi-disciplinary event, open to the general public featuring the abundance of artistic and cultural offerings in the tri-county area. This arts expo includes a cultural marketplace of interactive arts booths, performance stages, multi-media presentations, a family fun arts corner and an open-air courtyard of vendors, street performers and more.

Event Goals
“OPEN” is the very first big project of the Alliance created to raise awareness and widespread participation in the arts. The event will feature arts organizations and support their marketing and promotional ability with training. The Alliance will introduce “A Ticket to the Arts” coupon book enticing new audiences to experience the arts.

The Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3137 on the Isle of Palms is hosting their 11th Annual Golf Tournament at the Wild Dunes Harbor Course on Sunday September 12th at 1pm.  The cost for this Captains Choice tournament is $75 per player, which includes food and drinks during the tournament, resort golf, a beach front bbq dinner after the tournament and prizes!  You can sign up and pay at VFW Post 3137 on the IOP, which is located next to the Windjammer.  Hole Sponsors are needed as well, with only a minimum of $100 needed to be a Sponsor.  Please contact Darrin Voke at dvoke.post3137@yahoo.com if questions.

On Sunday, September 19th, the exclusive Cassique course will serve as the site for the 15th annual Sea Island Habitat Golf Benefit.  The golf benefit has been one of our most important fundraising events, and this year’s goal will be to fund an entire home for an area family in need--a $60,0000 goal!  We hope that you will be able to attend.

The New Bethel Sounds of Praise Ministry announces its 3rd Annual Trinity 5k Faith Run/Walk being held Saturday, September 25th at 7:00 am at the church, located at 501 Greyback Road in the Jedburg section of Summerville, SC.  Race day check-in will be 6:30 – 6:55 a.m.

Packet pick up days are September 22 and 23 for participants.  They will receive a bib, goodie bag, and T-shirt.  The entry fee for the Trinity 5K Faith Run/Walk is $20.  After August 7, 2010, the registration will be $30 until September 6, 2010.

The purpose of this event is to promote good health, cancer awareness, cancer prevention, and care. Our mission is also to help not only the victims but their friends and family gain knowledge on how to deal with the disease.  We want to 1) Increase interest in healthy living 2) Increase awareness, prevention and care available to those with cancer 3) Increase community participation with volunteer opportunities and 4) Attract more people to the Jedburg section of Summerville, SC.

We are proud to have the opportunity to work with the American Cancer Society where 50% of all proceeds will be donated to this fine organization.

After the race, our sponsors and vendors will provide refreshments and information pertaining to their products and services.
